Dr. Megan Mikesell

Dr. Megan Mikesell is a Senior Program Manager with The EdVenture Group. She received her doctorate in Interdisciplinary Education (specialization in Human Development and Family Studies) from West Virginia University in 2023. Dr. Mikesell has over 10 years of experience teaching college students on family theory, research, and the connection to practice. Additionally, she has an extensive background in the field of human development and family studies, with the majority of her work focused on exploring the interpersonal relationships of at-risk populations, including children from homes with a parental substance use disorder. Her background includes training in quantitative and qualitative methodologies and analyses, program development, structural equation modeling (SEM), and survey development. As part of her current work with The EdVenture Group, she assists in developing and implementing various prevention-focused programming to support youth, families, and communities. 

Prior to her work at The EdVenture Group, Dr. Mikesell was the Program Coordinator for a U.S. Department of Education Grant through West Virginia University to implement a tailored teacher professional development (PD) program to address the impacts of the opioid crisis in West Virginia teachers’ classrooms. As part of this role, she was primarily responsible for developing the PD content with team members, maintaining records, coordinating with county-based Extension faculty and participating teachers, and managing collected data from the PD (e.g., pre- and post-event surveys).
