This award, accompanied by a prize of $10,000-$20,000, recognizes a dedicated educator who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to impacting meaningful partnerships between families and schools, transforming the lives of students, and advancing Dr. Constantino’s inspiring vision for equitable family and school partnerships. About the Award: Laurie Horne was a family engagement specialist in Pitt County Schools (NC) who was passionate about creating strong family and school partnerships. Laurie transformed family engagement in her district and dedicated her career to engaging families. Although Laurie lost her battle with cancer in 2016, her legacy and inspiration to the field of family engagement lives on.

About the Award: Dr. Christine Darden is an aeronautical engineer and data analyst who devoted much of her 40 year career to NASA. She was the last generation of “human computers” at NASA. She is featured in the book, “Hidden Figures” as one of the few African American women who significantly impacted aerodynamics at NASA.
