Ida Ganther Carter

Family & Community Health Program Specialist

Native Houstonian Ida Ganther Carter is a passionate educator, lifelong learner, and advocate for
kids. As a Family & Community Health Program Specialist at Prairie View A&M Extension, she
is driven by the growth and development of tomorrow’s future leaders to positively impact the
community. With over 20 years of experience as an educational leader, program developer, and
workshop facilitator, Ida’s passion lies in fostering meaningful connections with students,
families, and community partners, particularly in empowering underserved communities through
both formal education and community initiatives. She is committed to creating supportive and
impactful learning environments that promote positive lifestyle changes for all. Her work is
guided by core values of integrity, effective communication, inclusivity, collaboration, and
empowerment.

Ida has served as a teacher, magnet coordinator, and assistant principal in Houston ISD, and as a
principal in Aldine ISD. Upon arriving at Aldine ISD, her work at her former school brought the
state accountability rating of B within a year.

She is an alumnus of Prairie View A&M and the University of Houston, a member of Sigma
Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and a proud mother and wife.
