Lee is founder of Simplify Language, providing training to make written and spoken communication more accessible, inclusive, and efficient. Since 2023 he has trained over 10,000 people across hundreds of educational institutions, government agencies, nonprofits, and foundations.
Lee gives dynamic keynote speeches at conferences and has led over 500 workshops nationwide on language, culture, and inclusion. His trainings are highly engaging, challenging, and immediately actionable. He also provides editing services and leads trainings on Facilitating and Presenting.
Lee co-founded the nonprofit Intercambio Uniting Communities in 2000 and was the CEO for 20 years. During his leadership, Intercambio connected 10,000 adult immigrants with 5,000 volunteer English teachers in Boulder County and established a national network of several hundred organizations. Intercambio continues to thrive and in 2024 received $2M from the MacKenzie Scott Foundation.
He is author of:
• The Immigrant Guide, a tool used by 300,000 immigrants to learn about systems and culture.
• Pronunciation Fun, which helps English learners with common pronunciation challenges.
• How to Shift the Power Imbalance in Adult Education, a 2021 article published in the Coalition on Adult Basic Education’s journal on racial equity.
He established the unique vision for Intercambio’s English curriculum series, Confidence and Connections. In 2021 he helped launch Conversations on Race and Equity for English Learners.
Lee received a BBA from the University of Michigan. He lives in Boulder with his wife Marcela and their young sons Valentino and Mateo.
