Sonya Stemmer

Sonya Stemmer is a career educator with a passion and commitment to engaging families as authentic partners in building student success. In her role as supervisor of the Office of Equity, Partnerships & Achievement, Mrs. Stemmer works with her team of family support specialists, institutes of higher education, educators, administrators, and families to design professional learning, family engagement experiences, authentic partnerships, and district initiatives that celebrate assets, co-create solutions, and cultivate change. Prior to coming to East Hartford, Mrs. Stemmer was a high school and middle school English teacher for 25 years in urban and suburban districts in Connecticut.
